I have to say that as of lately it has been so annoying to see everyone post cozy winter photos. There is something about living down here in the subtropics that really spoils the holidays for me. One week we are in boots and coats and the next week we are running around in flip flops and tanks. It is ridiculous and it drives me insane! That is living in Florida for you. Today was actually in the 70's which is perfect beach weather in my eyes. However, it is not perfect for the fact that it is the first week in January. I was hoping to keep my winter wardrobe out a bit longer.

Today I spent the day with my Mother in Palm Beach. This is where the table turns and now you guys get to be jealous of me as I soaked up this amazingly warm weather. Yes I am going to rub it in with some of my photos!

This year the warmer weather has caused me to skip right over my winter wardrobe obsessions and I am already thinking of bikini season after seeing all of these sunbathers by the water today. Isn't this just insanely beautiful? The water was flat and glassy and the weather was just perfection.

Christmas came a little early for me...

I have been in the process of decorating my living room over the last year or so, and while I'm sorry for not providing many status updates, please note that it has been a very slow process since I have been taking my time and not rushing through things like I normally do. I wanted to wait until I had made more progress before I revealed anything, but I couldn't resist since I made some exciting progress today with the help of someone special over at Plum Cushion.

After seeing Melanie's work in the home of Nicole Cohen, editor of Sketch 42 blog, I knew I had to have her make all of my custom pillows. Our most recent project just arrived at my door step today and came straight out the box in time for the holiday's.

Check out these matching beauties Melanie made sitting on top of my chairs. She also made the custom brown cushions for my vintage chairs (a previous eBay find).

These fabulous pillows, in the famous La Fiorentina print, also arrived today shown above on my sofa. And in case you are wondering, she also made the long yellow rectangle pillow using leftover fabric from my draperies.

What excited me more than my lovely pillows, is the fact that she used my leftover Schumacher fabric to make Christmas stockings for me. When I received them in the mail I screamed like a little girl. I am so thrilled with the personalized service I have received from her. Thank you Mel!

PS- I promise to show more pics of my apartment in the near future. I have some major purchases to make over the next month, which includes brass hardware for my custom curtains, a new dining set and a new area rug. I can't wait to show more with you all.

Healthy Greek Yogurt Chicken

I have spent the last year experimenting with dieting and eating tricks to shed some unwanted weight. Maybe I haven't made the healthiest of food choices along the way, but now that I have met my weight loss goals, I am eager to also make some life changes to find balance with healthy eating and routine exercise. I am starting with the eating part first because I hate exercise and usually have to drag myself to the gym. I don't want to just be skinny; I want to be healthy and happy.

I thought I would try something new and share a healthy recipe that one of my girlfriends recently taught me how to make because I think it is the bees-knees and it so easy to make! Recipe sharing is so much fun. Yip-eee!

Ingredients List:

1 lb. Chicken

1 bag Spinach

Handful of Pine-Nuts

1 Lemon Half

16 oz container of Non-Fat Greek Style Yogurt

Naan Bread

Olive Oil

Oregano

1. Toast pine nuts in small skillet on medium-low heat.

You want to make sure you move them around in the pan to ensure they brown evenly and do not burn. When the nuts become fragrant and have a nice golden color they are done and you can remove the pan from the heat and sit them to the side to cool.

2. Cube chicken, place in skillet and brown in olive oil on medium heat. 

Cut chicken into cubes, place in skillet and brown in olive oil on medium heat until fully cooked. Half way through cooking, squeeze a lemon half over the chicken mixture.

3. Baste Naan bread with olive oil and oregano

While the chicken is cooking you will want to pre-heat your oven on low broil and baste your Naan bread by brushing olive oil on it and using some oregano for seasoning. I also used some garlic powder for extra flavor. Broil the Naan bread for 3-4 minutes or until desired crispness.

4. Add spinach and pine nuts to chicken mixture.

Once your chicken is cooked thoroughly, toss in 3/4 bag of spinach and cook until it has melted down then mix in your toasted pine nuts and remove pan from heat so that it can cool.

5. Combine the Greek Yogurt with the chicken mixture in a separate bowl.

Place the mixture in a separate bowl and stir in about 3/4 of a 16 oz container of non-fat Greek yogurt. I used the Chobani brand.

6. Serve over 1/2 piece of Cooked Naan bread.

7. Enjoy!

Mid-Century Modern Table Styling To-Die-For

For those that follow Tia and Tamera's show on the style network you are probably already familiar with the recent wedding of Tamera Mowry and Adam Housley. Tamera was recently pictured on the fall 2011 cover of Get Married Magazine, which includes a fabulous layout inside that feautures her with her hottie hubby. The best part of this photoshoot is the amazing work of Vanessa Van Wieren, the creator of Alchemy Fine Events & Invitations. They created the most beautiful table styling to portray what it would look like if the couple was home entertaining guests. All I can say is BRAVO while drooling over the photos.

I cannot get over this oober chic White Warren Platner dining table and vintage brass barrel armchairs. And the colors, oooh the colors, they really excite me. I love all of these pretty little details and the bright and fun color palette.

Who would have ever thought to tie up these silk patterned dinner napkins with a chain and name card.

The photography credits should not be overlooked. You should check out Alexa Miller Photography. I had never heard of her prior to today, however her work is stunning.

My Bedroom Closet - The Saga Continues

So Saturday's post kept me obsessing over my closet and how I desperatly want to give it a mini diva make-over.

Here a snapshot of my wee little closet. It looks like a stuffed sasage in there. Somehow I keep giving stuff away and the contents continue to grow (wonder why that is)?

After spending my weekend looking for lighting resources, I tried cranking out other creative ideas to dress up the space. I browsed through hours of organization and closet photo files and came up with a simple plan. First off, I don't really want to paint since I am renting, so I thought about finding some artwork, fabric or a mirror to frame that will go above the top shelf that will be showcased by a new lighting fixture. Then I will finish it off with a small rug for the closet floor. I also love the idea of adding a small bench in the closet, even though one will probably clutter my tiny space even more, to not only look pretty but to help me reach things on my top shelves.

Since I have a space issue I also need to condense my clothing by purchasing smaller velvet no-slip hangers, and getting more of my shoes off of the floor since I step on them in the mornings while reaching for things. I am also looking for some cool brass hooks to hang my belts and long necklaces on.

I wanted to know if anyone has any other tips for organizing and semi-decorating a tiny closet. Help me!

My Bedroom Closet - Lighting Options

I think a lot of us women like to believe that our closets should be these beautiful magical places where we can put all of our fashion goodies on display. Unfortunately, every time I walk into my closet to get dressed I am so un-inspired because my closet is so boring. Why can't I have a designer closet (insert sad diva face here)?!! My closet is a very tiny beige walk-in so there isn't much I can do with it, but I figured I could start off with changing the builder basic lighting fixture to glam things up.

There are so many lighting options out there so the desicion making process is a tad overwhelming. Do I select a chandelier, pendant or flush mount fixture? Oh the choices...

OPTION 1

This DIY I came across is pretty freaking amazing not to mention it is fairly cheap in supplies. How genius!

Can I also point out how coolio these gold stripes are?

I would love an all gold closet! - SWOON!

OPTION 2

This little brass geometric guy is really bad ass. It is the perfect size and $375.

OPTION 3

Then there is this amazing small brass Hicks pendant for $420. These have been seen everywhere lately but I am still in love.

OPTION 4

I thought about also going more traditional and doing a small brass chandelier with brightly colored or patterned mini shades.

OPTION 5

Last but not least, i stumbled on this little white midcentury bamboo style chandelier for only $148. Loves!

So there you have it folks -five great options and I need to make up my mind now. Stay tuned to see what I pick, but in the mean time I would love to know your thoughts on these options that I found.

Hi sweet followers.

I just got back from a work trip out in San Fransisco and wanted share a few photos from my weekend.

I stayed at the Westin Market Street Hotel, which was pretty much walking distance to a lot of great shops and restaurants. San Fran is a beautiful city and like most big cities it is sensory overload. There is so much to do and not enough time (or money) to do it all in one visit.

This was going to be my first time to San Fran and with no travel experience in this city. Luckily I remembered this post by Erica with Moth Design about one of her recent visits out to San Fran. Erica was kind enough to share some more of her favorite places for me to visit. Thank goodness she sent me to the JCREW at the Westfield Mall because it is 10 times nicer than any of the ones I have been to in FL. I'm sure you locals know all about its glory, however I couldn't get over the yummy fall inventory and most off all these bad ass chairs in the shoe section. I wanted to drag them home with me.

Hello chairs of my dreams and random chick that would not get off her tush to let me take the chair for a test drive.

After all of my fancy work dinners I wanted something simple and naughty to eat and ended up eating at the same burger joint over an over again (in full creature of habit/OCD mode here). There are no Super Duper Buger joints in FL and I couldn't get over their garlic fries. I guess the small things excite me.

Yummy little mini-burger with cheese, their garlic fries and dipping trio of homemade sauces. I also tried their chocolate dipped cones and handspun organic milkshakes.

The 2011 Nike Women's Marathon also took place while I was visiting.

I took this photo from my hotel room right as the run was starting. I felt so lazy watching all of these ladies out running while I was in my big white fluffy hotel robe waiting for coffee. I told myself I was with them in spirit.

The nice cool city weather had me going ape shit fall clothing shopping. Here I am doing a modling shoot in the dressing room at Zara. I'm a total goon.

My goal of visiting the Golden Gate bridge was unsucessful due to my free time spent focused on retail therapy. My sights were limited to store fronts and trolly cars (big whoop-tee-doo!)

Bye Bye San Fran until we meet again!

I am in desperate need of a dining table set as I am currently eating at my coffee table every night because I have not been able to find the "the one" if you know what I mean. I think after coming across this photo I have found the chairs I am looking for. I hate glass table tops though. Too many finger prints to wipe off every day. O well, I guess some someone is going to get lucky and snatch this set up...

Random Life Update & A Birthday...

Hello fellow bloggers! I thought that it was time that I made an effort to update my blog before anyone thought I had given up on blogging all together. I will spare you with the details as to why I fell off of the face of the earth this time, so to sum things up my creativity has pretty much been squashed and I have not been motivated to write. Work has been my priority since the holiday's and I have just not had the time for hobbies or projects, not to mention a social life. Luckily, work has finally let up and so I wanted to share some fun and exciting things that have happened for me over the last few months.

I traveled to Chi-town back in June and this photo was taken off of Michigan Avenue near the historic water tower. I remember the weather being so beautiful that weekend I was there. Most of you don't know that I get the luxury of traveling often for work. My work trips are usually quick, but we visit fun places such as Las Vegas, Boston, Miami and Chicago. Chicago next to NYC (of course) is one of my favorite US cities to visit. Each time I have traveled there (usually in June), the weather has been gorgeous and I have fallen in love with this place. I honestly think I could live here if my Floridian genes could survive the cold months. The food, the shopping, the sites, oh my! The trick to mastering Chicago is to get yourself into a food induced coma starting on day one and then you ignore the money flying out of your wallet while you are on retail therapy overload. I always hit up the lust-worthy retail shoppes I can't afford downtown, but JCrew and Bloomingdales did take most of my money on this trip. I was pretty bummed that I didn't get to pay a visit to Jayson Home & Garden, not that the Martin sofa would have fit in my suit case anyways. Wishful thinking I guess.

With what little down time I have had this summer, I have been trying to get my apartment decorated. This is such an overwhelming task. I have been staring at beige walls for a year now but I am just staring to make some progress and check a few things off of my 10 page shopping list. Remember this post here about ghost barstools? Well, I finally bought some on ebay and I think they look great in my apartment. What do you think?

I am planning on having custom cushions made for them because they are not the most comfortable seats in the house. As long as they look good I could care less about hard they are but I am sure my guests may disagree.

My most exciting recent purchase was a piece of art by Michelle Armas. Until I figure out exactly where to put it I am just going to post a sneak peak of the painting for you all to see. You will have to wait a while for the grand unveiling.

I hope to post some more photos of my apartment progress very soon.

Next stop on Shannon's random life update was my recent 27th birthday. Turning twenty-seven last week really didn't phase me (not looking forward to the big 30 looming over my next few years), but it was certainly a special birthday and I felt very spoiled this year. Since I have been working my fanny off I bought myself a car.

I am now a proud new owner of a Silver 2011 Volkswagon Jetta. I love my new car!

(You would be proud of me too if you saw the junker I have been driving for years!)

I thought it was really sweet how my parents knew just how hard I have worked for this car and so they bought me this LV key holder as a birthday gift. I would have bought it ages ago but found it inapropriate to be driving a hooptie with a $200 key chain. Enough said.

So there you have it. Work finally slowed down enough for me to catch my breathe and now I am feeling re-energized. Hopefully you will be seeing a lot more of me lately.

Project Big-Girl Room

I have been neglecting to buy myself proper bedroom furniture for quite a while now. This could be a reflection of me spending too much of my salary on clothing and other areas of my home, but now it is time to focus my funds and much needed attention to this very important space and get it together.

I am really embarrassed to even show you a picture of my bedroom but part of fixing the problem is admitting to it, right? Here litteraly goes nothing...

It was just as painful as I thought it would be! I clearly don't spend any time in this awful room because I hate ~~my bedroom furniture~~ the fact that I have no furniture. I have a crappy mattress, an iron head board given to me by a neighbor who was tossing it and that white little target table I keep all of
my under-roo's in. What a pitiful sight, isn't it? The only thing worth salvaging in this room is my blue Ralph Lauren bedding, but my bedding also needs to be updated. Luckily, I have a clean slate to work with since this room is naked so the sky is the limit.

I am begining to put together my grandiose plans for my little dream bedroom. And while I haven't made any real decisions, I thought I would share some inspirational photos I am using to design what I am now referring to as my "big-girl bedroom".

I'm not sure where I found this photo, but I love the healthy dose of green in this room and the beautiful yet unexpected furniture choices. This headboard was love at first sight so I am definitely committed to finding a perfect upholstered headboard. I think I am on the right track now.

This is the bedroom of Palmer Weiss. I love this space because it is beautiful, uncluttered and

very romantic. Isn't it just so glamorous? Maybe not inviting for a hubby or boyfriend, but honestly the closet and bedroom is one area I think men should back down. Sit boy sit! None of that man cave business will ever stand in my home.

I love this bedroom of fellow blogger Nicole Gibbons. After a hard days work, this is a space I would want to come home to. It is very calming and clean. Blue is my favorite color and she has used small amounts of blue accents around her white bedding. This bed looks so soft and comfy I just want to jump on it. Again, another fabulous headboard...

You dreamy little space you...

This room designed by Melissa Warner is insane. I haven't stopped obsessing over this wrap headboard and every other item in this room. Ring me up one of everything!

This room pretty much sums up heaven to me as I could hibernate in this space all year long. I love the bed, the pop of coral red incorporated by the throw and the gold framed gallery wall.

I hope to be in my "big-girl room" as soon as possible but there is a lot of work to do. My first order of business is having curtains made, as the light coming in my bedroom is keeping me up at night. I also need to purchase some night stands because I am going crazy trying to read and make to-do list in bed at night.

Stay tuned as my little ideas come together and I work (at a turtles pace) to transform my naked bed room into a beautiful big-girl space!

Shopoholic Diaries - Talbots? Really?

Thank you Matters of Style for blogging about Talbots new Spring line and making my year, so far. My heart litteraly just skipped a beat when I placed my eyes upon their new spring collection. My chin is still on the floor because I cannot believe how scrumptious and affordable their stuff is compared to some of JCrew's items. Anne Taylor has also stepped it up a notch as well but I have to give Talbots the retailer make over of the year award.

I ask my self, "is this too good to be true?" and I had to do a double take. Take a look at this collection of beauties....

Their accessories are so high-end and glamourous. Did you notice all of the reptile skin? I will definately run down to get my lucite snake pumps, nude platforms and coral clutch ASAP!

It is one thing that brings me comfort and joy (waist expanding now) so I always look forward to any meal. I especially enjoy anything that is salty and I love cakes and pastries.

Ok, I'm not from an Island but I was raised in Florida so I love the coast and my perfect idea of any vacation is being isolated on a island or any beach soaking up the sun in a little tunic with my favorite magazines. My top three island destinations to visit would be Anquilla, St. Lucia and Fiji...

So I have this bad issue. I was born with champagne taste on a beer budget and I have this insatiable drive to obtain the finer things in live. I want the glitz, the glamour and the luxe...and what girl doesn't?!!

You won't find me at the center of the social network. I get overwhelmed trying to maintain a long list of friendships and find much more joy in intimate relationships. I put a lot into my friendships and prefer to have a tighknit circle of loved ones around me. That's just how I roll.

My favorite color is blue and it is evident around my home. Blue couch, blue bedding...
For me it represents tranquility and calm and I think I am drawn to it because reminds me of the ocean. I love bold and bright colors as well but blue is my "go-to" color.

I have always been a huge animal lover of all kinds, and I don't have any pets right now so you wouldn't know I do. I grew up with many pets and I think animals were not only a resource given to us humans but they were a gift to enjoy sharing this planet with and we should have a love and respect for them.

I would like to return the favor by listing out my favorite picks for the Stylish Blog Award (in no particular order). This was tough because I have so many amazing bloggers that I follow in my blog roll that I couldn't survive without, but I thought it would be best to narrow down to my top 7. I give this award to the lovely writers of the following blogs for two reasons. It's just a LITTLE crush

I've had a mini table from Oomph on my wish list for quite some time now. Of course, there is always a price to pay when it comes to perfection and so I am in turmoil about spending $400 for a table that is not more than a toddler's height. However, after seeing this little puppy I have just given myself confirmation that I would be doing the right thing by investing my hard earned dollars in a mini table (like how I rationalize my shopping habits?)

Can you say heart-throb? Seriously, I want to take it as my prisoner.

This is the original photo that cause me to add it to my MUST LUST LIST. I love this nesting look and how it is tucked under this larger lucite table. I think I might use mine (like how I am already taking ownership of it?) in between my two accent chairs in my living room.

I am set on the Tiny Table II in white laquer with the natural raffia top...

Farm Glam

For those of you behind with your tv watching, you are missing one of the darn-cutest shows out there right now called the Fabulous Beekman Boys. It is basically about two partners (Josh and Brent) who bought a working farm together and still maintain their city careers. This aint your average farm, just take a look and prepare to fall in love with their traditional with a twist farmhouse decor:

Ever since I started watching the show I have loved this farmhouse mansion. My favorite room happens to be the living room as it houses two sofas that I am completly obsessed with.

Aren't they just stunning?

Here is another photo of their gorgeous living room that was recently featured in Country Living. It is obviously staged for the magazine shoot. The article states it is a Jonathan Adler couch, but of course after reading that I rushed to the website only to find our that there is nothing of the sort for sale to the general public. A custom or vintage piece perhaps? O well, even if they sell that version I am not paying $5,000 for a new couch right now. I would rather find a vintage replica for a fraction of the price and have it reupholstered in this fabric .

I will be waiting for the new season to begin so I can drool over this couch until I can have my very own.

Rug Therapy Needed...

I have to say that I personally believe that making a decision on an area rug is about the hardest choice I have ever made in life so far. Ok, I am exaggerating a lot but I cannot seem to commit to a color or print and it is a little more than frustrating. I finally found a handful of rugs that I like at fairly affordable price points but I still can't seem to pull the trigger on anything.

I am really leaning towards a green rug or blue rug, even though my couch is already a blue, however I have so much beige on my walls and carpet I think I need some additional color introduced into the space. #1 and #6 are my favorites so far but I really love #2 which is a blue geometric rug from WS Home. Maybe even going with another color all together like somthing in the orange or colora family.

I keep going around in circles...

Sailing My Style

Right before Christmas I escaped on a 7 day western caribbean cruise that went to Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatan. The weather was beautiful for this time of year and I certainly was able to get the down time that I desperatly needed. Cruising is one of my favorite ways to vacation and I always come back relaxed vs other vacations which leave you neededing another vacation to recoup!

2010 was a tough year and I am sure many can relate. I feel like everywhere I looked, it was hard to find the positive in the economy, my career, relationships and the future. It was actually much of a blurr and thank God it went by very quickly. I have really lost sight of my priorities in the midst of my struggles and worries this year and my blogging is clearly a reflection of that. I hope that instead of placing a huge New Years Resolution list on my chest this year, I can simply remind myself of what is important to me and what drives me to be happy and successful which is being creative and finding inspiration in the things I love on a daily basis.

While I choose to not make an actual "checklist" I do hope I can do a few things differently this year. For me it is all about the P word - "prioritizing" for 2011

Blogging - I would like to push myself to blog more frequently, even when I am stressed or feeling overwhelmed. I tend to come home and want to pass out with exhaustion and by the time I find things I want to share with everyone, and I am too tired to put my thoughts together into writing. I also need to be better about sharing my thoughts even if they are simple and not feel the pressure of having the "perfect blog post." Being a new blogger can be overwhelming in this community and I have to remind myself to be myself and just let it flow.
Quiet time - Other than blogging, I hope to find more quiet time for myself in the mornings before going out into the world and in the evenings before I lay my head down at night. I like to over analyze all day long and also before bed so I have to remember to just stop, be still and rest my mind.
Healthiness - I have really been trying to make a change in my eating habits and not allow stress to control how and what I eat every day. Lately I have really made an honest change to try and start taking care of myself by working out and creating better eating habits that have really made a difference. I have found recent motivation in losing weight and feeling better about myself. I hope I can continue to stay motivated.

Decor at a turtles pace

Even though I have been busy lately, I have made a few tiny updates around my apartment. I am desperate to run out and do some crazy shopping to fill in all of this naked space, but for now I am just collecting items I love piece by piece.

So here is my living room. There is a ton of work to do, but over the next couple of month's I am hoping things will really start coming together once I purchase a few key pieces to warm up the space.

I made a decision on a new coffee table. It is the Nate Berkus mirrored bamboo table and it is the perfect size for a small space.

My drapery panels are back from being made and I am desperate to get them hung. They are so pretty and I had them made extra long so I can hang them below my crown molding. I need to make a decision on on hardware first and then I will be able to show you the full effect.

I snagged this little round brass box on clearance from anthro

My next project is having my chair cushions reupholstered in this Schumacher Shantung Blossom's fabric I picked out. My Chair pillows will me made with the Celerie Kemble for Schumacher Bleecker fabric.

So I realized today it has been more than a month since my last blog post. No, I haven't died, but unfortunately my day career has completely consumed my life with some major deadlines I have been under. This basically equates to no personal time for Shannon to do the things she loves to do. Finally things have slowed down to a manageable pace and I can get back to blogging and keeping up with this amazing design industry.

Get a Luxe Look for Less - Studio Arc Brass Floor Lamp

The current issue of Lonny stole my heart when I saw this brass floor lamp in the home of Callie Jenschke. This is the most perfect and cozy lamp I have ever seen. I love how it sits low and snug and it makes you want to just curl up with a book. The only downfall would be its price tag of a shy $700. I started out a search for a great look a like for a fraction of the cost.

Well, thanks to our friend Ikea we have access to these

Now I know these aren't our brass beauty, but both of them come so very close and are less than $100, so they are winners for the bargain shopper trying to get a luxe look for less.

I am so much in love with these Ikea lamps that I am thinking about running down to Ikea in the morning to buy one. I just can't choose which one. The one on the left is $39 and the one on the right is $89. I wish the head on the left one was on the one right lamp base and then I think it would be darn identical to the one featured in lonny. They only come in white, silver and black but I am thinking that I can settle this minor issue with brass spraypaint. Who has had good luck with spray paint, and has anyone found a brass color that isn't fake looking?

Upholstery Fantasy

I have always been extremely interested in upholstery. The whole prcocess just facinates me because it is so hands on and detailed. I personally could spend hours playing around with furniture and fixing old things up and that is why I think it draws me in. I wish I could find a local school where I could learn this amazing trade. Tonight I stumbled across this etsy video and it made me realize just how amazing and un appriciated upholstery really is.

New Apartment...a little sneak peak tour

After a very long weekend of moving, I am finally settled into my new apartment. Even though all of my things have found a home (for the most part) I still have lots of organizing and decorating to do. My sister came over yesterday and we made a huge IKEA run for some necessity items, just until I can get everything put together the way I want to. Util then, I thought you might enjoy a little sneak peak walk-through...

Here is my little tiny foyer and new chevron like print runner I bought at IKEA and I am totally obsessed with it. (Please ignore my naked livingroom)

A great little bamboo magnet board that I purchased through one of my favorite blogs, Matters of Style. It actually had a green fabric when I bought it, but I found a KWID trellis sample in Citrine I had laying around and recovered the board in that today. I am in love to say the least. You will have to wait to see the rest of my desk.

Here is my blank canvas and bones of a livingroom. I cannot wait to get my cushions upholstered for my chairs so I can have extra seeting. Right now it looks like a grave yard. Oh, lets not forget I need a rug, accent tables and some artwork. So much to do!

I am finally committed to my fabrics. I found the yellow lattice fabric at Calico Corners to use for my drapery panels, and I am using the Schumacher Shantung blossoms on my chairs, and the Bleeker Twilight print for a few throw pillows.

Hi there happy bloggers! I totally forgot to share my weekend adventures with you. Last Saturday was quite the day, and it was nice to get out since I have been working non-stop lately. Thought it would be a good opportunity to share a bit of my hectic life with you, since I enjoy seeing you share your personal stories and its always fun to know what other people are up too in their spare time.

It all started off to visit to a client to talk "paint" options...

Just a little sneaky peeky of the pretty home, and paint samples we hashed through together.

Followed by a trip to lovely Park Avenue...

A stop at Restoration Hardware where I picked up a white enamel like canister to store my makeup brushes in, and "feather" duster that was just too cute.

Some window browsing...

With a 3 hour stop to my 10:00 am appointment with amazing hair guru Cindy to fix some NASTY roots since I have neglected myself lately.

Dont be staring at my inch of re-growth in the back please...I meant to take an "After" shot but my hair takes for-ev-er with my 2-step color processing, so then we forgot. Lame, I know.

A nice walk around the park. It was beautiful outside...just hot and muggy though...

Had to stop at Williams Sonoma because it always smells so good and I like looking at kitchen gadgets.

A yummy lunch consisting of spicy tuna roll, wedge salad and lobster bisque soup. Yum Yum.

Some house stalking. I LOVE these stripes. Amazing chic home, huh?

And some apartment stalking! I am moving here next weekend and I cannot wait!

I also continued painting my chairs when I got home, so I was exausted to say the least.

Crushing Over Fall "Color"

Just because fall is on the horizon, does not mean we have to turn our closets and rooms into muted boring colors this year - no way jose'! It's a chair thing...part 2

Remember this post I did back in January? Well, I just got around to beginning to paint these chairs yesterday. It took me a while to figure out if I was going to paint by hand, or if it was time to invest in a compressor and spray guy for my furniture painting projects since my schedule is always crazy. I finally bit the bullet and bought the gun and compressor about a month or so ago, and decided yesterday would be a good day to whip it out of the box and get started on all my projects that are backed up.

It was hot and muggy yesterday and I was so beat red that I refused to have a self portrait taken of me with my chairs. Maybe next time when I don't have paint all over me and I am so sweaty that I could have turned that tarp into a slip and slide (sorry for the detail, but it is nasty in FL right now).

Painting was a slow process because of all of the detail on these chairs. This was only about 1/4 of the way through, then I got so nasty I didn't try to handle the camera again after this point (more pics to come next weekend).

I only finished one chair yesterday and I still have one more to finish of the pair, along with a white bamboo style credenza to paint. These pieces are actually going in my livingroom when I move the week after next. I can't wait to show you guys the final transformation when I am all done. I am so very in love with these chairs.

There is nothing like taking advantage of another person who thinks they are selling junk, when in fact it is TREASURE! Used vintage furniture is they way to incororate some really great pieces into your home for a fraction of what it would cost to go out and buy new items. The key is patience to take the time and "hunt" it down.

Here are a few items I fell in love with while browsing through local ads this week, along with some photos of inspiration on what I would do to update them and bring them back to life.

Cheap & Chic: Get it while it's hot - Jeff Lewis for HSN Clearance!

While reading up on Jeff Lewis and his recent acomplishment of having designed the kitchen named as House Beautiful's 2010 Kitchen of theYear, I stumbled onto his website and then his line for QVC. Just so happens that his items are on clearance, and for this price you would be a fool to not swoop them up!

Ok, get ready now. This garden stool (also available in two other colors) is on clearance for only $30! Total shoppers insanity.

And I have to say when I saw that this lamp (also comes in two other colors) was a mere $69 for a set of two, I thought I would pass out. I love this darling see through lamp. I think it would be pretty on a desk, or place the pair on your night stands. You could also put some trim on the shade to give it some color, but I would leave it sweet white!

I recently fell in love with this amazing workspace in the home of Erica Cook of Moth Design, which features one my favorite hanging style floor lamps. I don't have a desk right now to hang this bad boy over, but I am certain that this floor lamp looks amazing in any space whether it be the office, dining room, living room or a bedroom. It is perfection!

I'm not exactly sure where she purchased hers, but the identical Tolomeo Mega Floor Lamp by Artemide runs over $600 on most online stors. I don't see myself shelling out that kind of cash any time soon for a floor lamp, however it is worth every penny.

After doing some online shopping, CB2 has a similar lamp called the Alpha Floor Lamp for only $299,

or Ikea has a cheapy look a like for only $39.99!

It finally became CLEAR to me...

That I have had an official crush on Phillipe Starck ghost chairs. Ever since I laid eyes on the them, I have been dying to purchase one. They are seen everywhere lately, but I just can't get enough! In an effort to incorporate some type of lucite into my home, but afraid to make a overly trendy purchase I have held off. However, with my moving date around the corner, and the need for seating at my tiny two-seater island that is smack in the middle of the kitchen, I needed to find some bar stools that were petite and chic. I ran across these rip off acrylic bar stools that were less that $300 for the pair, and knew it was meant to be.

While going through my photo archives this week, I found this picture of the home of Ann Kholer (featured here), and thought that it would be fabulous to cover them and it would bring some extra color and character to my kitchen. My living room color pallatte is inspired by the FShumacher fabric Shantung Blossoms, and I think the citrine KWID trelils print is brilliant with it. I am just so in love!

Closet Madness!

Ok, before I start writing this long over due post, (briefly chasing a rabit) I want to apologize for being absent for way too long! So, obviously, as of lately my life has been in major transition and I am currently staying at my boyfriends home before moving into my next apartment. And (trust me this is going somewhere good) my clothes are spread out between his closet, the guest bedroom closet and his sons closet (yes poor thing I have taken over part of his closet too) and I am about to have a dis-organizational meltdown, even though I am thankful for the temporary space. See, I am someone who is a die-hard fan of the well organized-glamorous closet, so I cannot handle not being able to open my closet doors in the morning and not being able see all of my treasured goodies lined up in a perfect row screaming "wear me", "wear me", "no, pick me today"! And when they are packed together so tightly I just grab whatever is on the end caps because I am too tired to have to push my way through my clothing jungle.

I would love to just say, hey baby "can we turn your office into my closet while I am here?", with some industrial clothing racks, but we know that I cannot shut him out of the man cave so that idea is totally out.

So we ladies know most older homes were not built with the well-organized-glamourous-closet whoar in mind, so if your home was not built in more recent years I am sure you can relate to me (even though my situation is temporary) and you have had to come up with creative ways to organize your clothing and accessories. I would love for you ladies out there, that also love a well-organized-glamourous-closet, to share how you have utilized, organized and styled your closet space.

Cheap & Chic - Turquoise Bamboo Nesting Tables

You Want - Bedside Styling Manners

I was excited today when my lovely friend Michelle asked me to blog on night-stands and bedroom wall art, because I have been also looking for ideas for decorating my bedroom when I move. Bedroom night stands and wall art are two great subjects, however I am going to narrow my thoughts and inspiration down to "bedside styling" for today, since a lot of these great rooms incorporate a lot of fabulous nights stands and art.

The use of bold color to create some drama...

A multitude of carefully selected pieces to make a big impact.

For most people I think this look may feel cluttered, so I would be sure to select both items of necessity and decorative items you really love. May I also add that my favorite night-stands are ones like this with open shelving for magazines, books and nicknacks.

For a small space, I love the use strategically placed mirrors to bounce lighting to brighten up and widen the room.

As much as I love symmetry in a bedroom, I think it brings interest to a room to do something less balanced. This room at first glance appears to have all of the weight on the left hand side, however the use of color on the right balances the asymmetry in the room. This is well planned "asymmetry" and that is why it works.

For a clean look that relieves bedside table space, use task lighting over the traditional table lamp.

Again, I am loving this open nightstand with stacked books.

A writing desk becomes multi-functional when placed next to the bed.

I love floating side tables because they are fresh, functional and they leave open space. They great for the "low rider" bed since you can hand them at any hight.

I'm sure most of you can relate when I tell you my magazines are out - of - con - trol. I have them under the bed, in boxes, in beach bags, thrown in my lap top case and anywhere else I can stuff them. I love magazines! However, I am a little creepy with my Elle Decor magazines and I do keep them stacked on my desk all crisp and neat and I don't like to cut them up or tear them or share them. It's a borderline collecting obsession. It's just that they are so pretty, and they are great for reference, you all agree right? I am becoming the same way with House beautiful ( I only wish I had a complete Domino collection.) I decided it was time to organize my magazines, and I starting looking for a little storage inspiration for magazine storage and display.

My little Canon Digital Elph point and shoot no longer brings me photographic joy. I am looking to invest in a good digital SLR or DSLR, however I have little photography experience (which I hope to improve on) and I need help picking out a user friendly DSL camera. It will be for interior photos and travel and I would love your advice before I run out nd buy one. The reviews on all of the standard models differ and it's hard to pull the trigger on a purchase.

My favorite was the Gramercy Park Studio owned and designed by Elizabeth Bauer. I fell in love with every detail of this home. I only wish it was mine to come home to. As you step through these photos of her studio, it just gets better and better.

All of these colors flow together so beautifully. I am swooning over her coffee table and styling.

Now my heart is really racing...

Breathtaking. So many lovely details from the turquoise pouf, striped couch, pink detailing on rug, roman shades...must I stop?

The apartment of Ellie Sommerville really capped it off for me. Very clean and chic!

I will be running to Ikea this week to purchase this whimsical pendant featured in here living room.

I love her bedroom because it is so soothing and pretty. I would like to get my hands on her bedroom curtains (and her closet) !

I think everyone should be able to create an affordable luxurious environment in their home, so I thought it would be fun to share my top favorite items that I feel bring a lot of luxury and pampering to the home without the big price tags.

You never go wrong with candles. They make a room feel cozy and create ambiance, not to mention they give off fragrance. I love Capri Blue Candles sold at Anthropologie. My favorite scent is Volcano and you can smell it for miles away and I just cannot get enough of them.

Liven up your home with fresh flowers. I know from personal experience that having fresh flowers day in and out can add up, however you can always grab some cheaper blooms such as carnations or tulips from your local grocery store. I love Whole Foods for my flower shopping. Flowers add a very special touch to the home and I feel it is worth always taking the time and money to have them around. If you cannot afford to keep them around, don't be afraid to walk outside and pick a few flowers if you are on a budget.

Keep a few thick nice throws in your living room that can be used for both show and cozy time. Try shopping for a cotton knit throw or clearance cashmere .

Try places like Etsy to pick up fun originals or prints sold directly by the artists for next to nothing . Paintings these would be beautiful hung over a desk, or over a nightstand and would make for a great conversation piece. They act as a statement and bring color to the space.

The small things like nice bathroom and kitchen products make your guests feel extra special. You can find nice affordable soaps at stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx.

Nothing says luxury like sinking into a bed with quality linens. My personal favorite is Ralph Lauren Regent 600 Thread Count Extra Deep Sateen Sheet Collection. They are soft, thick and also breathable. They have a bit of a sheen to them and they hold up extremely well to washing.
You can buy great linens at many discount retailers today as well.

Look for textures and accents that bring an expensive feel, such as faux animal skin and fur, lacquered trays and boxes, small statutes and busts, geode and agate boxes, candleholders and bookends, faux murano glass bowls, and other figurines of interest and glitz.

The trick to learn here is to shop for items that appear to have a big price tag.

Dining room Dreaming - Part 3

So I didn't end up getting the vintage table I blogged about over the past weekend, however I was giddy when I saw Melanie over at Plum Cushion blog about Ms. Nicole and her Plum Apartment. Nicole, the author of Sketch 42, has a fabulous little dining room. When I laid eyes on her dining table, I thought to myself that this is the one. I must have this table! So after all of my searching for a white dining table, she informed me that her table is the Norden dining table in White from Ikea.

Who would have thought, right? It is just perfect!

This table comes in 2 sizes. One for 6 and one with a leaf to extend for 8. I think I am going to go for the 8.

So I am going camping this weekend, which should be a nice to get out of the office and get some fresh air. Even though I like being outside, I don't do spiders, oily hair, and I can't stand being hot when I sleep at night. So this time we cheated and we are going to be sleeping in a small cabin with ac and a mini fridge (score!)

However, I guess I wouldn't mind camping outside if I could sleep in one of these cuties from Cath Kidston

Have no fear, I will have my Off Spray, Decorating magazines, To do-list and I-Pod handy! Heck, I might even bring pink marshmallows for the girls to roast!

This room has always been my favorite of Kelly Wearstler's. Maybe it is because it is my favorite color (I love anything in coral tones) and call it crazy or funky if you will, but I personally think these walls are just magnificent! All of the other items in this room are equally tastefully and exciting including Kelly herself of course.

So, since I wont be free styling on my living room walls any time soon, I thought this fabric gives a fairly similar look and feel with the coral pink hue and watercolor like strokes . I think it is divine...

I am thinking that I would love to use this in my bedroom in a small dose such a pillows, or if anyone out there is gutsy...some chic window panels would be very yummy.

So after all of my searching and earlier blog about not being able to find a white parsons table that was affordable, the good Lord lead me upon a classified listing with a white parsons table for only $175!!! I may have heart failure if I cannot get to it in time. Pray that I get to it!

Now, if I can only find this dining table. Does anyone know who makes it? I am trying to find a white table like this for no more than let's say $500, because I really want to splurge on my chairs. I would also like it to be expandable vs always having seating for 8. I found this brown one on West Elm, but I would have to re-paint a brand new table.

I think this one will do if I can't find something else. I would just prefer the white. I think it is so glamorous to have a white dining table.

Today was a good day, because my new copy of Flair by Joe Nye arrived while I was at work. This is such a gorgeous book, with so many beautiful ideas for entertaining and party planning. I can't stop flipping through all of the colorful pages.

All of the photos and decor in this book are very yummy and Chinoiserie! Joe providers many tips on styling a chic table and arranging flowers and table settings. He also gives advice from properly writing your invites to picking out stationary. I love how he is loyal to good ol' proper etiquette, which seems like a long forgotten pastime nowadays.

Now, I will get a smack on the hand for this, however my favorite part is undressing my books too see what it looks like underneath its jacket....i get them naked in lack of classier words. I smiled from here to Texas once I saw this books underpants....

Not only is this an amazing reference book filled with loads of ideas, but it also makes a chic coffee table book! Wouldn't you agree?

Now go and get this book before you miss out!

April Showers bring May flowers

I had to show you this pretty little vase my Grandmother sent to me over the weekend. She knows I have a soft spot for milkglass, and she is always buying me new pieces when she is out antiquing. I feel like I am so much like her, now that I am older and I can see a lot of her in me. Growing up we used to call her Irene the Sofa Queen because she was always buying new furniture and antiques. Well now I can totally relate, as I too have the furniture bug. Like Grandmother, like Grandaughter...

I picked up these cheap pretty pink tulips and carnations this evening, and had to show them off. You may not be able to see it that well, but I found this tiny little horsehead milkglass vase on ebay, and was finally able to use it. I love flowers all over the house, but for some reason I love them in my bathroom. I walk straight into my bathroom when I wake up in the morning, and I love to see somthign pretty to start my day off right. I could wake up to gorgeous flowers every day, couldn't you? I hope this photo helps to start your week off bright and cheery.

Designer Chic for Less....Murano Glass Lighting

I was recently inspired by these lamps that Kelly Wearstler used in this space. This is actually one of my favorite rooms that she designed, the Bel-Air Villa. The murano glass lamps, white artwork and color palette are just perfection in my eyes. I used this room as inspiration for my new living room.

If you also love this space, and all of the elements in this room....well you have to love this similar Amber glass Table lamp sold at KMART!

While we are on the Murano Glass Subject, I absolutely love all of the Murano Glass lighting used and designed by Jan Showers. She has her own scrumptious collection! I happen to adore this blue chandelier...

My Celerie Kemble for FSchumacher

I just got my sample of Bleecker in Twilight from the Celerie Kemble for Schumacher collection today, and I just love it! It is a really pretty pattern and I think it goes very nice with my Shantung Blossoms and picks up the blue in the flowers. The only thing that worries me is the fact that Bleecker comes in linen which spells major wrinkles. I need to decide where to use this fabric, and it probably should not be used on high-traffic piece of furniture. Curtains maybe? Not sure.

Now that I have the two prints together I started thinking that I wanted somthing with more punch to it. I love the softness of the colors in the Shatung Blossoms, but I am afraid to get bored with this print. I thought about doing the Hot House Flowers, but I was trying to be a bit more original since it is from the same collection as Bleecker.

So what do you think Shantung vs Hot House?

9 by Design

For those of you who have not yet caught on to Bravo's latest creation, 9 by Design, you are really missing out. Bob and Cortney Novogratz have to have one of the most interesting eyes for design that I have ever seen. They are complete risk takers, and they really have fun breaking the rules when it comes to re-designing spaces and decorating. While some of their choices are quirky and eclectic, somehow it all comes together and makes for one amazing space. I would say there homes are very clean and inviting, especially their new multi-story home that they just moved into, and you can see some great photos here and rate your favorite room.

My favorite has to be their master bedroom. I love the draperies and chandeliers. And how can you not love the big Grey elephant in this room? Super cool.

Designer Chic for Less!

I have been wanting these brass kaleidoscopes that Kelly Wearstler designed for Bergdorf Goodman, however for a starting price of $1795, they are a little out of reach...

Luckily, I found some great look a likes while shopping online last night...

These are from Jason Home & Garden and range from small $45 to large for $85. They aren't quite as thick and nice, however I think they would look beautiful on the wall, or sitting on a coffee table!

My Shatung Blossoms....

My sample of Shantung Blossom's arrived today. I just love treats in the mail...

I ordered a sample of this FSchumacher fabric online, which this print is referred to as Shantung Blossoms in Mineral, although I had thought that this background looked cream.

Here is what the sample that arrived today looks like.

You can't quite tell in in the photo, however the background color is actually a light celery green. I was totally caught off guard expecting more of a cream color, however this green is really pretty and matches the paint color I picked. So it turned out to be a bonus. Green's, yellow's and light blues are my favorite colors, and this fabric does a really nice job of pulling these lovely shades together. I think that once I have pillows made out of this fabric it will look really pretty on my blue couch. Unfortunately my sample of Bleecker (which is a blue geometric print) did not arrive yet, so I will have to wait a bit longer until I make my final decision on fabrics for my new living room.

I just adore watching Guiliana & Bill. After being tortured all season long, I finally found out who makes the fabulous monogrammed pillows in their condo. Who else but of course, our beloved Jonathan Adler. I tried desperately to find photos of their home in Chicago to show your the ones they own, but at least I was able to find the pillows online.

I am pretty sure they initials for Guiliana "G" and one for Bill "B". I have been dying to get my hands on these pillows! Too bad I am not married, because I would totally copy them. For now, I will just order a "B." (which also stands for my last name in case you were wondering)

"hello lover"...

I have started this serious issue of going to the mall on Sunday's and visiting the Tory Burch store. There is something about the amazing decor, smell of her signature candle, and all of the juicy new arrivals that send me into shopping ecstasy (I may be exaggerating just a slight bit). I visited the store today and thought I would go into cardiac arrest over all of her new bags and clothing for summer. I melted over the these other items that I had to try on...

Edie Top - adorable and soft silk blend sweater tee (looks a million times better on in person) I will be going back for this summer must have. Tie-dye tacky or not...I am a fan of this lightweight silk cotton top for sure.

Mateo Striped Boatneck Tee - could this striped tee be any cuter for summer. Striped tee's are super hot right now. {See Habitually Chic's recent post on some other great striped tee's for summer} So get this one while you can.

Needless to say, I ended up going home with the stephanie tunic dress in snow lepord that was half off ( I do love a great bargain) and I am still on my Sunday Tory Burch high...or maybe it's that Joe Malone Red Roses Cologne I drenched myself in while browsing through Bloomies.

I have been looking for a task lamp for a while now, and I have really had my eyes on this one called the Wyatt task lamp from Pottery Barn. I would love to put it behind my couch for late night reading and blogging...

Ballard Designs also sells a couple of task lamps that I heart to death, but they are a bit more pricier. I love this silver tripod one, and I would to put on a night stand next to my bed...

Pretty "Up-cyling" for Earth Day Week

One of my best girlfriends is over in Korea visiting her husband who is in the air-force. While she is gone, she has me working on a list of projects for her. We are designing the living room for her new home she is building in Georgia, and we wanted to "up-cycle" some great pieces she had, including this adorable cane arm chair and a fabulous fabric club chair her grandmother gave to her.

We are painting this cane chair black and covering in a solid color and recovering the club chair in this great blue and citrine pattern we found featured on a pillow from J Seitz on the cover of the March issue in Country Living.

In order to get the pillow shown on the cover you have to call the store directly as they do not have online shopping. However, for those of you who also love this print, you can find decorative pillows here . I had to do some hard searching in order to find this fabric by the yard and it was at a full retail price. If you know of any one else who sells this fabric or the maker and name, let me know.
